ICON Painting Workshop

Over the course of the week each participant will be guided by the Revd Canon Ian Holdsworth and will write (paint) their own icon. This will be a spiritual exercise as well as a learning and creative opportunity.

Nativity Exhibition

Over the advent period, we will be hosting an exhibition showcasing the work of Key Stage 1 pupils from local schools. One of the designs will then be chosen and used as the cover image for the Journey to Bethlehem service sheet.

Half Term – Family Activities at Ripon Cathedral

A Nurse, Three Soldiers & A Sailor

A Remembrance tide talk and slideshow illustrating the stories of some of the brave and heroic people whose memorials we pass everyday in the cathedral. The talk will transition through the Cathedral and visit three locations, where the talk will pause and refreshments will be available.

Wilfrid Lectures: Canon Professor Joyce Hill: Wilfrid’s Lost Dedication Manuscript and the survival of its Tenth Century Replacement: a re-discovery in recent times

This lecture is on the replacement for Wilfrid’s great dedication Gospel Book, specially commissioned by Archbishop Oswald when he rebuilt the basilica in Ripon after its destruction in 948. This sumptuous tenth-century replacement has recently been identified as a manuscript now owned by the Pierpont Morgan Library in New York.
