In Conversation with Wendy Pratt at The Little Ripon Bookshop

We are delighted to be welcoming Wendy Pratt to The Little Ripon Bookshop on Thursday 5th September at 7pm.

Wendy’s new book, The Ghost Lake, is a book with a strong sense of place  – Paleolake Flixton is an extinct lake in North Yorkshire. Human occupation of the lake dates back thousands of years. Gradually the lake has disappeared, turning to wetland and fields. All that is left now is a watermark.

Wendy takes the reader around the lake, to locations she has known all her life. She was born in Scarborough and has never lived more than 20 miles from there. The lake has been part of her growing up, her married life, her child’s death and her current search for understanding. She writes movingly and straightforwardly about the effect her surroundings have had on her and the way in which events in her life have shaped her.

An early draft of The Ghost Lake was longlisted for the NanShepherd Prize.
