Ripon Cathedral 1350th Launch Night
Apr 28 - 12:00 am - 11:59 pm| £25
The official start of Ripon Cathedral’s 1350th celebrations and a night to remember.
With live music from Frankly Jazz, the big band with just the right sound, illuminations projected inside the cathedral from our team of visual artists and production managers at AV Matrix, exhibitions featuring Chrissie’s Freeth’s beautiful tapestries before they go on show at the Royal Academy, over 27 flower installations and food from the Yorkshire Party Company, we believe this will be a night to remember.
Tickets are priced at just £25, which includes a drink on arrival and fresh pizza from wood fired pizza ovens on the forecourt.
Artist in Residence Chrissie Freeth
Chrissie’s pre-Renaissance inspired tapestries have previously been exhibited at the Royal Academy, Salts Mill and internationally in Sweden, Latvia and Finland. Her work plays with traditional iconography and has developed a rich vocabulary of personal symbolism. 13 tapestries on display from April 28 to May 25.
Live Band – Frankly Jazz
The band are simply fantastic and with frontman Marcus Groundwater also singing with the cathedral choir and JT, the jazz pianist, a former chorister, this is a real homegrown success story!
