Michael makes a welcome return to Ripon to read from his new collection for grown-ups. The Advantages of Nearly Dying records his slow and painful battle with longCOVID (‘I can’t hear with my left eye, I can’t see with my left ear and I get muddled’) and shares his thoughts about the pandemic that led to over 200,000 deaths in the UK.

Welcome to the Sixth Ripon Poetry Festival!
The Ripon Poetry Festival is back with another weekend of poetry readings, performances, workshops and book launches for poetry-lovers of all ages.Six years after helping to kick-start the first Ripon Poetry Festival, Michael Rosen makes a very welcome return to the festival line-up, which also includes readings and performances by Adisa the Verbaliser, Hadley-James Hoyles, Alison Carr, Robert Powell and Sarah Wimbush, poetry-workshops for children and grown-ups, an open mic night, the launch of this year’s festival anthologies, the world premiere of a chamber oratorio by Tim Harrison and Andy Croft, and an evening with theatre legend Barrie Rutter.
