An introduction to slow stitch and mindfulness with Helen Birmingham
May 13 - 2:30 pm - 4:00 pm
Would you like to learn what slow stitching is all about?
Slow stitching is a mindful needlework process that focuses on the joy of creating rather than the finished piece of work. It’s about the journey and not the destination! Perhaps you are new to slow stitching and would like a gentle introduction to a new skill or perhaps you are more experienced and looking to develop new techniques or embrace an alternative way of working or you may simply be looking for something mindful to do, this new group is for you!
The event, hosted by textile artist Helen Birmingham, who runs ‘The Stitchbook Collective’ an established and nationally acclaimed slow stitch group, together with Workhouse volunteer Marion Morris will include demonstrations, discussions and one to one advice and information about becoming a part of: Ripon Museum Trust’s new community group: Slow Stitching for good mental health.
The event will be held in the dining room at the Workhouse Museum & Garden, please make yourself known on the day at the front desk of the museum and one of our volunteers will direct you.
