Ripon Cathedral has embarked on an incredible milestone, celebrating over 1350 years since its consecration by St Wilfrid in 672AD.
The Anglo-Saxon Crypt is all that remains of Wilfrid’s original basilica church, but this remarkable space is the oldest building of any English Cathedral. Even more remarkably, it still in use today – a place of prayer and reflection at the heart of this historic place.
Wilfrid’s passion was to lay strong foundations of the Christian church in the Pagan Anglo-Saxon kingdoms, and he became one of the most influential and pioneering leaders.

Experience Evensong
Choral Evensong is a beautiful choral service, held at the start of most evenings. It is the perfect time for contemplation after a busy day. With minimal participation, Evensong allows listeners to enjoy a reflective, quiet atmosphere with world-class music ringing around the cathedral.
Children’s Church and Worship
Little Children’s Church (0-6)
Our brand new group for the youngest members of the Cathedral Congregation. We meet during the 10.30am Sung Eucharist, and explore the Christian faith through stories, songs, crafts, and play. We ask that children under school age are accompanied by a parent/responsible adult.

Our group for primary school aged children, which meets during the 10.30am Sung Eucharist. We explore the Christian faith through stories, crafts, and other activities.
