Rejoicing in Ripon: Award-winning photographer Helen puts membership of Ripon BID into perspective
The work of award‑winning photographer Helen Tabor is helping to attract visitors to Ripon and district, while showcasing the rich historical and heritage assets that the Cathedral City of the Dales has to offer 🏛️🌿.
The sole trader, who voluntarily contributes to the Ripon BID levy, has added a major new string to her bow after a portfolio of her stunning and beautifully composed architectural photographs earned her both the Licentiateship and the Associateship of the British Institute of Professional Photography (BIPP) 🏆📷.
In addition, the Ripon City Photographic Society member (pictured above with her BIPP certificate) is also a member of the Professional Garden Photographers’ Association and the Garden Media Guild, reflecting her skill in capturing the great North Yorkshire outdoors — including the Rose Garden at Newby Hall 🌹 and the gardens of Kiplin Hall near Richmond, where seven large canvases of Helen’s work now adorn the walls of the recently refurbished café 🖼️☕.
Membership of the BID has proved invaluable to Helen 🤝
She told Tim Flanagan of the Rejoicing in Ripon blog:
“It has provided me with connection to other businesses, so whilst working alone for myself, I enjoy being part of the community, networking with other business owners and keeping informed as to the bigger picture for what’s going on in Ripon and how the BID’s added value enhancements are benefiting the city.”
Helen added:
“Commissions I have carried out for the BID have also enabled me to showcase my work. This has included the panel of my photographs on the hoardings at the soon‑to‑be rejuvenated Ripon Spa Baths; four of my photos on the BID panel at the top of High Skellgate; and on the noticeboards on the Market Square and by the Library.
My photos have also been used in social media posts and various publications promoting the BID’s work in supporting, alongside fellow stakeholders, activities across the Ripon district — including the Ripon at Christmas and Ripon Theatre Festival brochures, which I also design.” 🎄🎭
