Ripon Together Green Fair 2024
Ripon Together Green Fair 2024 is at Allhallowgate Methodist Church and Church Hall on Saturday 5th October, 10am – 3pm.
There will be approx. 25 stalls and stands with a wide mix of groups and organisations who are concerned about the environment. Outside we will have a 36 Bus and people talking about integrated public transport and sustainable travel. There will be some children’s activities and an art competition, we’d like to get young people and families interested and involved.
In the main church we have several presentations by local experts, including talks about heat pump technology, renewable energy, retrofit improvements to homes, waste & recycling, local green issues, regenerative design, sustainable farming and local conservation.
We are very keen for local businesses to attend and to see what’s on offer. We have arranged for the last hour of the presentations to showcase how small and large organisations can consider their energy use and carbon footprint. We have specialists on hand to talk about cost savings, energy assessments, recycling waste and attracting green consumers. There will be the presentation of a case study, which has been carried out for a Ripon BID member, the Londis, Ananya Store, on Elm Road, Ripon. Excel Utilities will explain their assessment and go through any recommendations, predicted costs and savings. The business owner, Darshan Sidpura, will share his experience of the assessment, the conclusions and his plans for the business. Another expert in renewable energy and efficiency, Energy Oasis will have more information for commercial property owners, landlords and tenants.
Darshan explained, “the business’s energy bill is one of our largest overheads, it had risen to over £3000 per month and we had to find ways to reduce it. We are looking to make our business as efficient as possible and believe in renewable energy.”
Jonathan Mullin, Ripon Race Company Ltd. said “Ripon Green Fair is a great initiative, bringing people and businesses together to look at ways in which we can contribute to a greener and more sustainable future. We’re really looking forward to seeing some of the presentations and seeing some of the great work that has been taking place in the area since the inaugural Green Fair last year!”
