IMPORTANT: Market Place Road Closures Starting 28th October 2024
Details of imminent road closures in Ripon city centre
After lengthy liaison with North Yorkshire Highways and North Yorkshire & Ripon City Councillor Andrew Williams, Ripon BID can now inform you that Market Place East and Market Place South will be closed to all traffic from 28th October for approximately 4 weeks to allow for the start of resurfacing (with asphalt) work to begin. This will obviously also impact Duck Hill & Kirkgate access.
Ripon BID lobbied for the work to start this year and after the initial stretch of road is completed for the work to stop and roads reopened in time for the Christmas trading period. Work will then recommence in the New Year.
We understand that this work will of course be disruptive for your business but have worked hard to find the best solutions with North Yorkshire Highways to minimise the impact.
Please note this decision has only just been made by North Yorkshire Council due to the previous scheme having been funded by Heritage Lottery funding and the need to consult with them. Ripon BID understands that a press release will be issued in due course with full details and this will be shared when available. This press release will detail diversions, bus routes, parking and taxi rank arrangements.
Please see below details from the Council’s roadworks map. Please feel free to contact the BID should you have any queries.
