Magical Creatures Have Landed in Ripon – Can You Find Them All?
Something truly magical is happening in Ripon this summer – and it’s right in the heart of the city!
As part of an exciting new initiative from Ripon BID, families are invited to explore the streets of Ripon on a free, interactive Augmented Reality (AR) trail where magical Alebrije creatures burst to life from glowing seed pods hidden in shop windows. It’s colourful, creative, and completely contactless – and it’s running now through to 31st August.
What’s the Alebrije Trail All About?
Alebrijes (pronounced Ah-leh-bree-heh) are stunning, imaginative creatures from Mexican folklore – part animal, part fantasy, and covered in dazzling colours and patterns. And thanks to modern AR tech, you can now see them come to life right in front of you using just your smartphone.
There are 10 magical 3D Alebrijes and 6 bonus 2D characters hidden around Ripon’s city centre. Each one is waiting to be discovered in a seed pod displayed in a participating business window.

A Brilliant Day Out for All Ages
