Volunteering and Placement Opportunities at Ripon Museum Trust
Volunteers are the magic ingredient at Ripon Museums. Our continued success is only possible because of our wonderful team of volunteers. All ages, all abilities, all welcome!
Over 100 volunteers are actively involved in the wide range of flexible roles across our three sites and gardens. Whatever your interests and experience, there is sure to be something which excites and interests you.
You don’t have to have specialist knowledge to volunteer; all you will need is an enthusiasm for the museums and their collections and a willingness to get stuck in.
Some of our volunteers live locally whilst others live further afield, so there are opportunities for them to volunteer from home. We can also provide short- and long-term work placements.
Volunteering is a great way to:
- Build your skills and confidence
- Enhance your CV and employment prospects
- Make new friends and meet like-minded people
We have over 12 different volunteering roles which include:
- Front of House Assistant
- Learning Team Volunteer
- Volunteer Cleaner
- Maintenance Volunteer
Work placements
At Ripon Museum Trust we can provide short- and long-term work placements for school or college students or for those rejoining theworkforce after a career break. We can tailor the placement to suit your needs and availability.
We also have special projects from time to time, which may involve recruiting people directly for that project. We can only offer a small number of placements but will try out best to accommodate everyone who shows an interest.
Young People
We would also like to hear from young people in school years 8 to 11 who would like to join RMT as a young volunteer. If you would like to learn new skills such as customer care, handling artefacts or researching history then please get in touch. You could make some new friends and meet interesting people, as well as learn new skills
which could help with your CV and college or job applications.
